Mess with Texas - part 2

Updated: Dec 31, 2019

It's been some time since the part 1 of the series. I feel like I've left the best part of the trip to the second part.

Stop 2: Fredericksburg (cont.)

We stopped at the Fredericksburg, which is this cute little German town about an hour away from Austin.

I've already shown you the picture of the town's library, but here it goes again.

I suppose you already guessed that I didn't take too many pictures in this place. Otherwise I would have posted other pictures. And you are so right!

My friend and I were so busy walking around that we didn't take many pictures. We wanted to absorb each particle of the cuteness of this German town. It was quite refreshing to see something like this in the middle of the country.

Oh wait, I did take a picture of something for entertainment purpose.

Interestingly, my friend, who has been to Berlin, told me that Germany is nothing like this, since she thought Fredericksburg is so much cuter.

So much for our short stay in Fredericksburg. Then we headed out to Austin!

Stop 3: Austin

Austin is the city that I was quite excited about. People has described it as "weird" or the "oasis". Anyway, I had quite high expectation of this place.

Because of our ambitious road-trip route, we arrived at Austin in the late afternoon.

Barton Springs Pool

The first stop that we made was at Barton Springs Pool. What's better than a dip in the water to wash away all the tiredness from traveling?

What is Barton Springs Pool? You might ask. It's this ingenious idea of a public outdoor swimming pool in a park. How cool is that?!

As you can kind of see in the picture, there are lots of people swimming or tanning at the pool. Such a nice way to mingle with the other city dwellers and spend your weekend! I already fell in love with Austin here.

But then, lo and behold, I found another fave of mine in Austin: Gelato!

Gelato stop

I'm such a sucker for gelato. Just look at this. Need I say more?

Mount Bonnell

Blessed by the late sunset time in Austin, my friend and I decided to catch the last glimpse of the sun from the top of Mount Bonnell. We kind of messed up on timing when to get to the mountain, but Mount Bonnell is another fave of mine in Austin.

Here is the view of Austin from the top of the mountain. I wish I could have shown you the video that I took. I was awestruck to look at the city from such a perspective.

And here is me sitting pretty on top of Austin. :)

There is a back story about how we were able to get this shot. The platform that I was sitting on was actually the roof of this lookout place. My friend and I needed to do the following to get to the right spot for this view.

It was worth it!

My trip to Texas didn't stop here. If you are interested in following my journey in Texas, check out my Mess with Texas - part 3. It'll be a short and sweet one. See you next time!
