Here comes Singapore! The (tiny) land that miraculously merged chill island vibe and upscale modern touch into one entity.
Before we get started on exploring the sights in Singapore, here are some fun facts:
1. Singapore is a relatively young country. It just celebrated its 52's birthday on Aug 9, 2017.
2. Singapore's nickname is "the Red Dot".
It conveys two characteristics of Singapore: first it is small, and thus it is the dot; second its majority of population is Chinese, and thus it is 'red' (the main color in the Chinese flag is red and thus it is almost the symbolic color for Chinese).
3. Just how tiny is Singapore as a country? It is 277.6 mi² in area (source: google). To put that number into perspective, Los Angeles city is 503 mi² (source: google). So Singapore is just about half of the size of a large city in US.
Even though Singapore is tiny, it has a lot to offer. That is why I am breaking down the Singapore blog into 3 posts:
1. Sightseeing
2. Food
3. Night life
I will break it down in details in the next several posts. Some highlights are:
Where to find the Merlions? Moreover, what is even a Merlion?
Fancy some tasty dinner for under $5?
Free booze every Wednesday?
Stay tuned!
